CHAPTER 10

Noble woke with Jordan stirring next to him. He opened his eyes, noted that Jordan had flipped over during the night, and was presently wiggling his rump against Noble's morning wood. He'd almost bet Jordan did it on purpose, if not for Jordan's even breathing, lax body, and closed eyes, which spoke of sleep.

A rattling sound caught his attention. He traced it to the main window as both wind and snow bombarded it with a fury only Mother Nature could do.

Another storm, more time cooped up inside. With Jordan. Relatively safe from discovery as long as the whiteout conditions continued. Too bad this particular event was forecast to be short lived. Still, he'd take what he could get.

Noble turned his attention back to Jordan and sighed in contentment as he considered this latest twist in their personal saga. Sure, they'd both noticed one another in a sexual sense days ago. A shifter couldn't hide the scent of his arousal from another of his kind. Even Noble, with lack of full shifter potential picked up Jordan's spicy aroma more than once. He'd shrugged them off each time, afraid to push too hard, to cross a line with a guy he'd taken in from the cold only days before.

Complicating matters, Jordan still had a stalker on his trail, one he claimed wouldn't quit until he was captured or dead.

Not on my watch. Noble's inner beast chuffed in agreement.

As far as he was concerned, Jordan was his to look after. For now. Maybe for longer depending if he wanted to stick around after they confronted this mad scientist and sent him straight to hell to pay for his crimes.

He studied Jordan as he presently used Noble's arm for a pillow. Health radiated off Jordan. His once gaunt body had filled out nicely, testament to the great healing ability tied to his shifter DNA. Hollowed out cheeks stretched over sharp bones now were full. His ribs had a bit of padding so they didn't stand out near as starkly as before. Even the man's legs had beefed up, compliments of rest and several good meals under his belt. A few shifts, albeit not quite to the particular cat species Jordan had aimed for, aided in getting him back up to par.

Jordan was a looker. Smooth skin, those brilliant blue eyes as they twinkled in mischief. One hot body that made Noble's libido sit up and take notice. Not only him, but Noble's inner lion as well.

Which confused the hell out of him. Never before had his beast been so interested in another man. He'd had his fair share of one-night stands, even a couple which lasted a bit longer. Both human and shifters alike. Yet, none of them captured his interest like Jordan did.

Maybe it fell back on the way they met, with Jordan desperate, half-frozen, and staring death in the face. Perhaps it was the forced interaction due to the extreme winter conditions outside. While those reasons rang true, Noble knew the main draw.
