It bothered Justin way more than it should have

to think of Clayton trying to make it alone in a city

like Flint. It was bad enough for someone who had

actual street smarts. Somebody as innocent as

Clayton would be eaten alive. Justin reminded

himself that Clayton wasn‟t his concern. If the

idiot wanted to be stubborn and stay, then Justin

should just let him sink or swim. They‟d only

known each other for a matter of hours, so wasn‟t

like they had any ties or anything.

So, then why did Justin‟s grip on Clayton grow

so tight the other man winced a bit? Thankfully,

he got distracted from his thoughts when he

spotted the waitress returning to the table.

Reluctantly, he let his arms drop. “Let‟s go back to

the others.”

They were within a few feet when Clayton

pulled up short, his gaze locked on the full plate of

food. “What‟s that? I didn‟t order anything.”

Justin came up behind him and leaned down to

speak directly in his ear. “I figured you might be

hungry.”

“But I can‟t…what I mean is I already ate

something earlier,” Clayton stammered.

“It‟s my way of saying I‟m sorry for being such
