I had to be out of my mind. That was the only thing that kept going through my head as I left Gayle’s apartment. What other explanation was there for me having sex with a woman I already knew to be a player?
Gayle had this way of making me think she was really interested in me – even that she cared about me. Of course she didn’t, I told myself as I got on a bus. That was what players did. Their ability to lie convincingly was what made them players. And like a fool, I had fallen for her tricks.
I shook my head, unable to believe how insanely I had acted. I was so close to finding my dream girl, I could almost feel it! There was a woman out there who was born to be with me. She was going to be everything I had ever wanted and more. Instead of waiting for her, I’d forgotten everything for a moment’s pleasure.
Slumping down on the seat, I clutched my arms around myself. To be fair, what had happened between me and Gayle was more than a moment’s pleasure. As much as I didn’t want to admit it, sex with her had been nothing short of incredible. Gayle had touched me so tenderly, and the experience had been more than I’d ever dreamed. I couldn’t really imagine how it would be any better with my dream girl.
Gayle and I had stayed in her bed cuddling for a few minutes after we’d each pleasured each other. We hadn’t talked much, but having her arm around me was everything I’d hoped it would be. My throat tightened as I thought about the time I’d seen her with Sorrel. I didn’t want to spend any more time thinking about that.
In any case, the moment was over now. The sex was in the past, and it couldn’t be changed. We hadn’t talked about what would happen tomorrow, and now I had to start worrying about seeing her at work. Would she tell anyone what we had done? Would she act any differently toward me?
I gritted my teeth as I got off at my stop. Hopefully she’d stay away.
Walking into my apartment made me heave a sigh. It was small and messy at the best of times. Compared to Gayle’s, it was downright depressing. Maybe I should clean. That’d make Heidi happy. I had so much else to do, though. It was nearly ten o’clock, and I hadn’t studied at all tonight.
In my room, I sat heavily down at my desk. The area between my legs felt funny and a little sore. Taking a breath, I wondered if losing my virginity was a big enough occasion to take the night off studying. Without even having to think about it, I shook my head. The exam I was going to take in a month was major. There was no alternative but to pass it. I needed to study every day, no exceptions.
I tried to study – I really tried.
