Sofia was woken up rather dramatically in the morning. A loud noise was coming from somewhere nearby, and as she jolted upright, heart jumping out of her chest and adrenaline coursing through her, it took her a few seconds to figure out where she was, to make sense of these unfamiliar surroundings. She recognized that she most definitely wasn’t in her own bed, though in her half-asleep mind, now jumbled even further by how startled she had just been, it was only when she looked over and saw Madeleine, barely looking like she was awake herself, reaching over to hit the button on top of her alarm clock that Sofia finally remembered where she was and how she’d gotten there.

All at once the night before came rushing back to her- the bar, meeting Madeleine, spending time with her, and eventually ending up back here- and suddenly she felt her cheeks heating up a little bit, once more gripped by the overall awkwardness that came with waking up in the bed of the woman she had slept with the night before. At first Madeleine wasn’t looking at Sofia, her back turned as she had reached for the clock, but after a moment she turned back around to look towards Sofia over her shoulder. Madeleine’s eyes fell on her, and for a moment Sofia thought she saw a little look of surprise on Madeleine’s face, as if Madeleine herself had forgotten she was there. After that fleeting second, however, a soft, gentle smile appeared on her lips.

“Did you sleep well?” Madeleine asked. Her voice was still a little hoarse, those first words of the day eking themselves out in the strained way they always did, but despite that her tone was soft, affectionate even.

“Well enough,” Sofia replied. Now that the initial shock from the alarm clock was wearing off, of course, Sofia was starting to realize just how little sleep she had actually gotten, and how exhausted she really was. She was thankful she didn’t have anything else she needed to do today, and she had a feeling she might collapse for a nap the moment she got back to her dorm. Right now, of course, that was still something that felt a fair distance off.

“I’m glad to hear that,” Madeleine said, already starting to move towards the edge of the bed to get up. “I’m sorry I have to be up so early this morning.”

“It’s alright,” Sofia promised, quickly shaking her head to dismiss Madeleine’s concerns. “Thank you for letting me stay the night in the first place.” She started to follow along after Madeleine as well, getting out of bed from the opposite side, looking for where she had left her clothes the night before. She could see the room a bit more easily now that there was some light coming in through the windows, even if it wasn’t much, and even if there were still curtains blocking it. It didn’t take long to spot the outfit she had been
