Dr. Celeste Brennan’s Office

[Dr. Celeste Brennan]

Carmie, it’s so wonderful to see you. I spoke with your father on yesterday. Carmichael says that you’re considering coming out of retirement to start back acting.

[Carmen Vega]

It’s wonderful seeing you as well. Yes, I’m going back to what I love best. You knew I couldn’t stay away from my Godmother for too long. I have missed you and your tea cakes. Are you joining the family this year for the Holidays, or will you be flying to Paris?

[Dr. Brennan]

Debra is going to be in London with her fiance’s family. Having a daughter and a grandchild so far away hasn’t been easy. I’m glad that she met Eric, he’s from a good family and has a good career. He really cares about my daughter and grandson. I told your father, Carmichael, to let your mother know that I’ll be joining them this Holiday season. I always have such a great time with you all.

[Carmen Vega]

Mommie has already started cooking. She doesn’t have to, with the staff and all being there, but you know your bestfriend, she’s going to do things her way.

[Dr. Brennan]

Dina’s been like that since I met her some umpteen years ago. When we were in College together, she insisted on always doing things her way. She gave our Psychology Professors a time disproving their theories. Her being the way that she is, has proven to be the apotheosis of her career.

[Carmen Vega]

Mommie is a excellent Psychologist and an even better mother.

[Dr. Brennan]

And, friend. Don’t forget friend. She’s an amazing woman.

[Carmen Vega]

Well, she named me after you. Carmen Elizabeth Celeste Vega. Carmen after my Dad, Carmichael. With your first name, Celeste, and your middle name being shared with her mother, Elizabeth.

[Dr. Brennan]

She and I have always said that it was divine fate that we met abroad over in France when we both attended Blakeney University. She’s more than a friend, she’s my sister. I cried as much as she did when your little head popped out of her. The Doctor gave the scissors to your Dad to cut your umbilical cord and Carmichael told me to cut it with him. So we both held onto the scissors together and cut your umbilical cord.

[Carmen Vega]

I know. And Daddy fainted shortly thereafter. Mommie has told that to me 100’s of times.

[Dr. Brennan]

So, what brings you by, it’s not your regular monthly scheduled appointment.

[Carmen Vega]

Well,

[Dr. Brennan]

Well, what? Carmie, I know that look. You’re not still seeing Mark Rembrandt, are you? I told you to walk away from that man three months ago, when you finally told me that you two had been involved for a while.

[Carmen Vega]

No. No. I did exactly what you told me to. In fact, I broke things off with Mark via the phone as soon as I left your office while sitting in my car in the parking lot downstairs. I just. I just need help in getting past the memories of Mark.

[Dr. Brennan]

The mechanisms in the brain are able to substitute and suppress memories.
