Shouts echoed behind me as I slithered after the racing guy.

With a cry, he ducked beneath my arms and darted past my body. I was so surprised that he was past my tail before I could react. I threw a look at him and saw him running right for the women chasing into the woods after him.

“Don't be a dumb, stupid dummy!” I hissed and then whirled around and chased after, my scales rasping.

My tail propelled me forward. My body swayed to my sinuous motion. My tongue flicked out over and over. I could taste fear in the air. The youth looked back at me and shouted again. He looked ahead and then froze.

The three women pursuing him roared. They leveled spears and charged at him. He veered to the right, moving away from the women and me. I hissed in frustration. He was such a dummy idiot. The women and I were almost on each other.

“Monster girl!” one shouted, pointing at me.
