Chapter 8

Kandi was Nick's date, Tasha was mine.

The arrangement was Kandi's idea.

The awards ceremony was two months behind us. Nick and Tasha were in town for the weekend, visiting for a Vegas Halloween bash. Tickets were a thousand dollars apiece. Nick and Tasha had been given four by their new studio.

Kandi and I never spoke about the night of the awards ceremony. No deep conversations, anyway. We tried in fits and starts but baring your soul to another is no easy thing. I assured her I was okay with what happened but much preferred to just get on with our lives. I tried to be more forthcoming, I truly did, but heart to heart conversations are not my thing. A leopard doesn't change his spots. Not that fast. I promised I would work on expressing myself more. I might be a hard man to talk to but I'm not stupid. I told Kandi her happiness was important so she should act on her feelings. If she ever crossed a line, if she ever went too far, I promised to say something and no hard feelings. We were exploring a new way.

That worked for her. Our sex life had been intense. No adventures with others but what we'd done at the cabin and that night of the awards ceremony gave us material enough to supercharge our fucking. We couldn't talk about feelings of vulnerability but we could sure talk about hot sex.

Then Nick and Tasha said they were coming to Vegas for Halloween and asked if they could stay with us. I said yes, but I was nervous. I knew I was agreeing to more than just a sleepover. Kandi was delightfully surprised.

"You know I'll try to seduce him," Kandi said.

I said nothing. My wife licked her lips.

Now we rode in the back of a Hummer limo on our way to the party. Tasha sat close to me, holding my hand and resting her head on my shoulder. I felt her warm breath on my ear. Kandi was glued to Nick.

The girls had dressed as the two adversarial women from The Mummy: Evelyn Carnahan and Anck Su Namun. Kandi was Evelyn and Tasha was Anck Su Namun, and their Egyptian costumes, taken from the film, were painted directly on their skin. They were essentially nude except for the sandals they wore and the wrap which would allow them to pass through the casino. Once inside the event, the wraps would be checked at the coat room and our women would spend the night secretly naked in front of hundreds. Tasha had spent plenty of time naked in front of hundreds but Kandi was a nervous wreck. Excited but also worried she didn't look good enough. She did.

Nick and I were their Egyptian honor guard. We wore short white skirts called shendyts, the same garment the pharaohs wore, and the headdress seen on the Sphinx, called nemes. Our bodies were painted with hieroglyphs. At our hips were fake Egyptian swords called khopesh made from hard plastic.
