Chapter Thirteen
I woke up the following morning with a headache and a hard-on.
If I had a dick, it would have been erect, and I touched my lips, remembering the night before. I giggled and pulled the covers over meâ like even through the walls and my skin, anyone around would have been able to read me.
To see what Cole had done to me. Iâd finally cracked him. Weâd kissed. Hell, we would have done a whole lot more if Luna hadnât interrupted.
Damn Luna!
I groaned and tossed the covers back angrily. And then I remembered it was Saturday. The chances of me seeing Cole were high, and all of my traitorous parts began throbbing at once.
âLily, do you want to go to the carnival today?â Rose asked as she burst into the room.
âRose?!â I cried in astonishment. âPrivacy!â
She was wearing boy shorts and a tank, and she plopped down on the bed like I wasnât just trying to chase her out.
âItâs not like anyoneâs in here.â She shrugged. âSo, do you?â
I made a low, guttural sound before I tugged the sheet back over my head. âIâm still sleeping.â
She giggled. âHow old are you? Five? And they say Iâm the immature one.â Rose laughed and yanked the covers back. âCome on. You know they arenât going to let me go to the carnival all by myself.â
âSo, donât go,â I retorted and tried to reach for the covers again.
âBut I want to,â she whined and held them back. âPlease?â
Just then, my phone buzzed, and I slapped my palm over it and flipped it over. It was a text from Ella. I shuffled up in bed and opened the message.
Ella: Weâre going to the carnival. Are you coming?
Ella: Wait, scratch that. Yes, you are. Weâre gonna pick you up at two.
Lily: Lol. Fine. Sheesh!
I replaced the phone and forced a smile for Rose. âIâm going.â
âYes!â she squealed, then her face froze. âWait, did your âfriendsâ just tell you theyâre going?â
âWhatâs with the air quotes?â I asked, trying to evade the question as I swung my legs over to the side of the bed.
âThey did,â Rose said definitively and got up too.
âDoes it matter?â I caught my rumpled hair at the top of my head and kept it in place with a hair tie. âIâm going. And thatâs what matters.â
Rose shook her head in disappointment and walked out of the room, slamming the door as an expression of her anger.
âHey! I can still not go!â I shouted after her. I was probably a lousy sister at that moment, but who would want to go to a carnival with just their sister? We didnât even like the same things. Sheâd probably go on the rides and want to play games and eat cotton candy like she was five. I was more grown-up than that.
Last night flashed in my mind again, and I bit my lower lip. I was way more grown-up.
I hoped Iâd see him, but where would we steal any time at a carnival? Maybe we could make out in his car.
