Jan watched sadly as the last of her things were packed up and the remaining stock readied for storage. She’d already said good-bye to Nancy and Bill, using the last of her savings to give them a small severance package. And she promised them jobs in the new café, if they were still interested. They’d both assured her they were, but neither had been interested in joining her at the BDC in the interim. Surprisingly, it wasn’t because it was a BDSM club. It had been because they’d be required to work nights which would interfere with their night school classes.

Now she was here alone, watching the movers that Fiona had hired. Fiona. She’d been prepared to dislike the designer on sight and then, when she arrived, Jan realized that it was none other than her favorite pink-haired customer and girlfriend of Max. That made things a little easier. She’d spent every spare minute with Fiona as the two of them worked out how the new café would look, and thanks to Fiona, it was going to kick ass.

The problem was that wouldn’t happen for at least two months. Probably three according to Fiona, or maybe even four it they had any problem with the trades. At least she knew that when it was done, it would be everything she had ever dreamed of.

She looked around her place for the last time. It was almost time to head upstairs for her shift at the club bar. And she wouldn’t be back.

She’d worked at the bar Thursday and Saturday night last week and Thursday and Friday so far this week. She was tired but happy. She really liked it there. It wouldn’t replace running her own business, but she was pleasantly surprised at how much she liked the people.

And how hot it all looked. Fiona had given her some reading material, including better, more authentic novels than the popular ones she’d read. They were well written and hot. Extremely hot. Some of the scenes from these new novels had even figured in her dreams, and they all starred Jacob Harris, just like every other novel she’d read for the past few months.

He seemed like a nice guy. A really nice guy. And maybe she’d overreacted a bit. But after being married to Greg for half a decade, who could blame her for not trusting? But she knew one thing. She definitely wasn’t over him.

She looked around. Everything was boxed and ready to be picked up on Saturday. Now it was time to go upstairs and change for her shift at the bar.

She yawned. It would be nice just working a single job for the next few months.

She walked out of the staff lounge wearing a new corset and miniskirt. She had her own locker now and didn’t need to leave her coat in the cloak closet out at reception. This skirt was emerald-green. The corset was black leather with green velvet cups that matched the skirt and her eyes.
