The Mercedes was now on the motorway and travelling at speed on the Autovia de la Jéres a Algeciras as Mawson slowly drove the lorry towards the Port exit. The team followed as Mawson travelled on the Autovia de la Costa de la Luz, he only travelled a few kilometres then exited at junction 3 at Chiclana de la Frontera. The lorry slowly moved through the busy streets then turned onto the country roads, they were full of side by side, very large, heavy plastic covered growing areas, plastic green houses, the size of football pitches. Strawberries, raspberries, peppers, tomatoes, cauliflowers, cucumbers, lettuce could be seen under the sides which had been lifted for ventilation. There was a hive of activity, black immigrant workers on bikes moving from one greenhouse to another for their daily minimal earnings, forklift trucks moving picked vegetables to the distribution areas. This was a difficult location to maintain vision and control of Mawson and the wagon, one officer removed a bicycle from a van and started to follow the route of the wagon, which was travelling slowly passed the active workers and the plastic sheeted greenhouses, the rest of the surveillance made a cocoon around the area covering the exit routes.
