Chapter 6

Farrell Blackmore

Jesus Christ, Blackmore! What the fuck are you thinking? I curse myself as I push her away.

The girl is staring at me, her face pale, eyes wide with horror. We stare at each other for a second. I feel every inch of myself straining for her. If my dick got any harder, it would explode.

Not a fucking chance, you asshole!

I’m on my feet and storming toward the living room entrance before I can let this madness go any further. Hugo and Karl have been stationed at the doorway, eyes fixed firmly forward. When I charge past them, they stand quickly to attention.

“Get her out of here,” I bark, running a hand through my hair. As if on cue, my phone rings, and of course, it’s fucking Vasiliy. As I answer the call, I hear a choking cry from the girl behind me. Karl has hauled her up in a fireman’s hold again. It’s a mode of transport he seems to favor with her. As he sweeps past me with her over his shoulder, I have to fight down a wave of regret. She’s pummeling his back with her fists and screaming fit to kill. Her soft, sweet curves are pressed against Karl’s broad shoulder in a way that makes something in me clench.

“You bastard! You fucking bastard!” she howls, just as Vasiliy’s smooth tones come over the line.

“Sounds like things are going well,” he says as I answer. I mutter a curse.

“I’m on top of it,” I reply. She’s still screaming and cursing as Karl makes his way up the stairs.

“Not on top of her, I hope, Farrell,” Vasiliy retorts, then chuckles. “That will be my pleasure alone. Though I am certain I don’t need to remind you.”

“Of course,” I say. Fuck.

“She will submit, I am certain. You will make it clear to her that this is her only option.”

“She will,” I bite out. Does he make these calls just to drive me crazy?

“I spoke to your colonel this morning,” he says suddenly. His abrupt change of subject almost has me dropping the phone. I don’t reply. “He asked after you,” he continues. “I said nothing, of course. It would do no good for him to know that we are associates.” I remain silent. I know there is no innocence in these references to my past. He does it to remind me of where I’ve come from.

And what I’ve become.

“That’s good thinking,” I eventually respond. I hear muffled shrieks from upstairs. She’s screaming about the police and what will happen to us in prison when we go down for this.

Vasiliy laughs roundly. “Ah, my friend, she’s a tigress, it would seem. I truly look forward to getting my hands on her. When she is ready. Soon.”

“Yes, soon,” I say.

“Good.” His voice is all business again. “You take care of my girl. And you know I will take care of yours.” Again, he ends the call before I can reply because that’s how he likes it. Even in these insignificant things, he must wield control.
