My hunger for food was promptly replaced with a hunger for sex right when I entered Declan’s hotel room. Bless his heart; he’d already had the pizza delivered when I got there. And I’d walked right past it, grabbed him around the waist, and shoved him onto the bed.

“What about the pizza?” he asked against my lips.

“Haven’t you heard of cold pizza?” I retorted before kissing along his strong jaw and down his neck.

Declan chuckled and said nothing more on the matter.

He took me slower that time. Slow but not any less intense. It felt different in other ways, too.

As I was face down on the mattress, he leaned forward and kissed my shoulder blade, rocking into me. Then, he slid his arms under me and gently pulled me up so that I was against him, my back to his chest. His thick cock pumped in and out of me, bringing me closer to that sweet release.

Sex with him had always been tender, but it was even more so that night.

And fuck if it didn’t do things to my heart.

I didn’t rush off afterward. We collapsed on the bed, sweaty and breathless, and cuddled for several minutes before getting up and cleaning off in the shower. I put on the pants I’d come there in—the same athletic pants he’d let me borrow before—and went over to the box of pizza and opened the lid.

“Do you have plates?”

“No.” Declan wrapped his arms around me from behind and pressed his hips forward, kissing my nape.

“Animal,” I said, grabbing the box and plopping down on the small couch in the room.

I hadn’t looked at what kind of pizza he’d gotten until I took a bite. Cheese with extra sauce. I’d only told him once that it was my favorite type of pizza. The fact he remembered such a small detail didn’t help the issue with my heart any—which had done a weird little skip-beat at the revelation.

Declan grabbed a slice from the box and sat beside me, throwing one arm on top of the couch and behind my head. He took a bite and lifted his brows as he nodded.

“Yep. Still just as good when cold.”

“Duh,” I said, bumping his side. Then, I tilted my head at him. “Have you never eaten cold pizza before?”

“No, I have,” he answered. “It’s just been a while, I guess.”

Don’t do it, I thought as his response stirred an interest to learn more about him.

The more I learned about him, the harder it’d be to say goodbye. Being a fan for so many years, I knew some details about his life. But that’d all been crap the media had spilled. Other than the interviews he’d done, where the answers had come directly from his lips, a lot of the details were most likely bullshit.

“Did you grow up wealthy?” I asked, despite the earlier warning to myself.

“Not at all.” He finished eating his pizza before grabbing a napkin and wiping his hands. “I actually grew up in foster care.
