What time is it? Andrew raised his head. Phone. Is that my phone? Somewhere across the room, his pants pocket rang.

The ringing stopped. Need to get it. But one solid, very warm body lay across his chest. Oh, boy, don’t want to move. Ever.

Very gently, he scooted Val to the side. Val’s head came up instantly. “What? Is everything okay?”

Andrew kissed Val’s cheek. “Yes, but my phone was ringing. I need to go see who called.”

Val glanced toward the still dark windows. “At this hour, it must be your office.”

“That’s what I figure too.”

“You could pretend you didn’t get the message.” He grinned.

“Can’t. Officially on call.” He kissed his nose.

“We could move to Bora Bora.”

Andrew smiled. “No ballet there.”

Val rolled to his back and put a hand over his forehead. “Probably no ballet dancer killers either.”

He leaned on his forearms. “I’m so sorry this is happening to you.”

Val sighed long and deep. “Okay, end of drama queen performance. Nobody’s killed me yet. I should be feeling sorry for the guys he’s offed.” He flipped out of bed gracefully and walked into the bathroom, then closed the door.

Andrew rolled out of the other side, grabbed his phone and hit return.

Ilke answered. “Sorry. I know you barely got any sleep.”

“What’s new about that?”

“We’ve got some lab results back on the evidence found at NYBT.”

“That was fast.”

“Well, serial killers make people antsy. I wouldn’t have bothered you, but it could be important.”

He swallowed his sigh. “I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

“Okay.” She hung up.

Val stood in the bathroom door, a towel around his waist, his longish, shaggy hair still wet. “You want a fast shower before you check in?”

“Yes, probably wise.” He walked to Val and touched the glowing ink on his chest. “I’d rather have taken it with you, but that definitely wouldn’t be wise if I plan to get there today.”

Val slid a hand behind Andrew’s head and threaded his fingers in his hair. “May I kiss you…Sir?”

Oh hell yes. Andrew grabbed Val’s head in his big hands and gazed for a second at that perfect mouth. He closed his lips over Val’s and slipped his tongue into deep heat and softness. The problem with moving so quickly to fucking was missing the romantic steps like kissing and touching—not that he knew much about romance. He’d been way too busy trying to make sense out of a senseless world.

Val surrendered his tongue to Andrew and let him explore all the crannies and crevices of sweetness. Andrew’s cock rose like the sunrise happening sometime in the near future, but he ignored it. Just kiss for once.

Val’s breath came faster and he pressed against Andrew, the towel doing little to disguise his interest in escalating the situation. Andrew pulled back. “I really enjoy kissing you. Usually it’s just accompaniment. Kind of fun to make it the main tune.”

Val looked some combo of pleased and frustrated. He bounded up and kissed Andrew’s lips quickly. “Take your shower, Mr. Law Enforcement. Murder calls.
