Chapter 8
Vadim
It has been a lot to take in for my margaritka. To be the daughter of a mob boss. Getting nearly abducted by another cartel. Only to end up as the captive of the man who has stalked her and who is not any better than her father or the men who tried to take her. I help her get up and lead her back to my room. She is quiet. Too quiet. She doesnât even protest when I start undressing her. Any other time, undressing her would have gotten me hard as fuck. But my girlâs distress tempers my sexual needs and awakes the need to protect and care for her. When she is naked, I lead her into the adjoining bathroom. I open the tap. While we wait for the tub to fill, I take a comb and untangle Daisyâs golden locks and tie them to a knot at the back of her head. I donât like the vacant look in her eyes. Iâm no fucking doctor, but I know the signs of shock. And I know firsthand what trauma can do to you long term. I donât want this for my girl.
âMargaritka,â I say gently, to get a reaction from her. When she doesnât respond, I get in front of her and grab her a little harder by her arms, leaning in to look her directly in the eyes. âMargaritka,â I say more forcefully. âLook at me!â
She blinks a few times, but then she looks at me. A tear rolls over her cheek, and I wipe it away with my thumb. It breaks my black fucking heart to see her so distressed. It makes the need in me to punish those Cuban bastards even greater.
âYouâre going to be okay,â I say sternly. âYou are stronger than this.â
It takes me by surprise when she throws herself into my arms and sobs at my chest. I hug her tightly, whispering soothing things into her ear. Iâm not even aware I am speaking Russian. Not that it would matter to her in this moment. Itâs my comfort she need. The words and their meaning are secondary. When she calms down a bit, I untangle her from me and lead her to the tub. It has filled up by now. I close the tap and lean down to test the water. Itâs hot but not too hot. I take a bottle with bubble bath and pour it into the water, stirring it around a bit, before lifting Daisy into my arms and lowering her into the water.
âThank you,â she says with a broken voice. âYou... you saved my life.â
I brush the hair out of her face and place a kiss on her forehead. Never has a woman brought out this tender side of me. Itâs foreign and I am not sure what to make of it.
âI will always protect you, margaritka,â I promise.
âWhy? I am not special. You could have any woman.â
âWhat did I say to you about putting yourself down?â
She turns away, avoiding my stern gaze.
