Chapter Nine

Blaze kept feeling as if he were in a fever dream he couldn’t wake up from. First, there was the staggering evidence he was painting in his sleep. Then, Dairen was now telling Blaze that said picture was foretelling an incident that had actually happened.

Blaze was awash of emotions. So many feelings were rushing through him he was having trouble focusing on just one. He felt happy he’d finally found his Omega gift. Yet, at the same time, he was afraid of it, since his biggest fear was his gift turning against him like what happened to his father.

To top it off, Samuel was dead. Blaze had liked the guy. He had been one of the few pack members that had treated Blaze fairly. He’d even gone so far as to stand up for Blaze and tell the bullies off. It was a crushing blow to Blaze, which just added to all the other crap being piled on him.

“You’re sure it’s the same tree that is in my painting?” Blaze asked, even though he already knew that answer.

Darien placed a kiss on the top of Blaze’s head. “I know it’s a lot to take in, but you have to. There is something evil out there. Your gift may be a secret right now, but you know how it is in a pack. It’s worse than a high school sometimes, because the gossip mill is so big.”

“Well, if the three of us don’t say anything then I’ll be okay,” Blaze said, panic making his pulse race.

“That’s just it, we can’t keep this to ourselves,” Bishop said. “Your gift can very well help us find out who did this and stop him.”

Blaze wanted to say no so badly. Then he realized he wasn’t the only Omega in danger. There were plenty of them with some pretty fantastic gifts. If somebody was trying to weaken their pack, all they had to do was pick the Omegas off one-by-one. Blaze knew he’d never forgive himself if he sat idly by while that happened.

“Okay, I’ll help,” Blaze agreed. “That is if I can. I didn’t even know I had a gift until just now, so I sure as hell don’t know how to control it. I can’t even program my coffee maker, so all this is going to be a huge leap for me. For all we know this could have been a one-time fluke.”

“You need to have more faith in yourself. The safety of the pack could very well depend on it,” Bishop said.

“Nice to know. No pressure there,” Blaze replied.

He normally would have never even thought about speaking to his Alpha in that matter. Blaze couldn’t help himself, though. He was on the verge of having a total freak out and more revelations kept popping in.

“Maybe you should give him some space,” Darien said to Bishop.

“I would if the circumstances were different, but we don’t know what we’re facing here. Another attack could come at any moment,” Bishop replied.
