“T hat’s perfect, Geneva!” Tyler, our most beloved photographer roared from behind his camera lenses. “Move a little to the right,” he gently instructed with a flattened palm, waving in the direction of where he wanted me to edge across the landscape of South Beach, Florida.

I pushed a wave of spiral blonde curls off my rosy, sun kissed cheeks, pointing my other hand down to the sand.

“Here?” I called out to make certain.

“That’s the golden ticket!” Tyler gave me an enthusiastic thumb’s up, crouching down with an exposed tongue slivering out of his mouth in dedicated concentration.

Tyler was my favorite photographer. He was kind and peppy, always giving the models working for the ‘Essence and Elegance’ modeling agency the kind of positive feedback attention they deserved.

I was one of the most popular and sought after models on the crew, but I had humble beginnings and never forgot my roots. I drifted from set to set each week, appreciating how every single member of our crew and team fully endorsed my hourglass figure and the blood, sweat and tears we poured into our jobs.

I knew that I had been blessed to have curves in all the right places on my body. Curves that swayed and blended like a winding road down a country mountainside. I ran a hand through my platinum blonde hair, as fresh as spun silk under the glistening, golden sun.

My creamy white skin gave me an exceptionally carbon copy similarity to the legendary Marylin Monroe. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t the type to

stand in front of the mirror for hours, admiring my own reflection. It was everyone else who gushed over me. Everyone said I had harbored a token of obvious beauty and pride in the modeling world. To me, beauty was always something that I searched for on the inside. In my humble opinion, inner beauty and a sprinkle of kindness went a long way in this business.

I craved popularity on the sets my agent sent me on, but not in the flashy, materialistic sense. I wanted to be known as the sweet one, your girl next door type. I wanted people to see my face and recognize a sense of peace and comfort, whether that be on a magazine cover or an in-person encounter.

At twenty-four years old, I was the one who was most surprised at the spontaneous leap for which my career was taking flight. Sure, the seemingly overnight success gave me a sense of pride and a boost of endurance. I wasn’t exactly a seasoned pro, but I had been in the game for a little over six years, so I knew what to expect. It was important to have a measured flare of confidence. That way, people wouldn’t walk all over you, but I still needed to maintain simplicity and a down to earth uniqueness.
