INKLE and Tonk’s dances often comprise a sequence of quite distinctive kangaroo leaps. All the power passes through the back legs while their front legs are held limply in front and hardly come in contact with the ground at all. Just what makes them suddenly begin this unusual bounding motion is not known.

HEN Tonk dances with Joy’s little sister, Jill, their movements are often remarkably synchronized. The girls’ father believes that the younger the child, the quicker the bond, because cat and child share qualities of innocence and spontaneity, exuberance and un-conditional love—qualities that are reflected in their dances together.
