Inside the house, Alex and I stumble up the stairs wrapped in each other’s arms. At the top, he captures my mouth in a long, deep kiss. I feel alive with desire, each limb tingling with the need to touch him or be touched by him. His hands roam over my body, tightening around my hips and then sliding up to my breasts, teasing my taut nipples through the layers of fabric.

We eventually make it to the bedroom where he presses me against the wall, spinning me until I’m facing away from him. His hands find the zipper at the back. He slides it down slowly, pulling the dress over my arms and then past my waist and hips until it’s all the way off, leaving me in my lacy red bra and panties that match the dress, and my gold high heels.

“Damn,” he breathes at the sight of me. The desire in his voice makes me tremble with anticipation.

His hips grind against me. His hardness against my back is gratifying evidence of what I do to him. Me—a forty-something divorced single mom. His excitement erases years of negative self-talk and all the times Milton turned me down.

He unclasps my bra and lets it fall, and then reaches around me, cupping my breasts with a guttural growl of appreciation.
