Chapter 4

I fiddled around nervously with the napkin, barely eating any of the delicious food in front of me.

“Anything the matter, Georgina?” Mr. Ridgen – Caspar – asked as he looked at me over the ridge of his wineglass. He took a sip, but his steel blue gaze never left me.

“I’m fine,” I said. “I just don’t know why…”

“Why what? We’re going out to dinner?”

“Exactly,” I took a sip of the wine, letting the alcohol warmth seep through me. “Why can’t we just…I don’t know…head to wherever you’re taking me after this?”

He laughed. “Georgina,” he put the glass down. “If all goes well tonight – and I think it will – we’d like this to be more than a one night thing. We want you to see all the benefits that come with our little arrangement.”

The whole night was just too much – when I sent the signed contract back to Ridgen, he immediately gave me a present – a gorgeous black designer dress and matching shoes (how he knew my size, I didn’t know). On the night of our “playdate” (as the contract called it), he had a limo pick me up and had me brought to one of the most exclusive restaurants in the city. I mean, the menu didn’t even have prices! Plus, he joined me for dinner (thank God it was just us – I wasn’t sure I wanted to sit at a dinner table with eight men I was about to jump in the sack with), wearing an impeccable suit and looking impossibly handsome. He was charming and nice the whole time – I could feel many of the women in the room looking at us with envy.

“You didn’t have to do that,” I said.

“But I want to,” he said. “It…pleases me.”

I didn’t answer him, instead, taking another sip of wine. Gotta stop that. I don’t want to be too drunk.

“Dessert?” the waiter asked as he approached us.

Caspar looked at me, his blue eyes piercing right through me. Heat shot to the very core of me, which only made his eyes blaze with desire. “I think not,” he said, standing up, offering me his hand. “Shall we?”

Maybe I should have had more of that wine.

The ride in the limo was quick – I didn’t even know where we were going, except for the “Playroom” as the contract said. I rubbed my hands nervously on my dress.

“Relax,” Caspar said, reaching over to take my hand, rubbing it with his. His skin was warm and strangely soothing. “You’ll do great,” he whispered. He tilted my head to his, and then pressed his lips to mine. I was surprised at the intimate gesture, and eagerly returned his soft kisses. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his lap.

Before we could continue, the limo stopped. With a grunt, Caspar pulled away. “We’re here,” he said roughly. I moved off of him, letting him open the door of the limo. He stepped out, then turned around to offer me his hand.
