CHAPTER 15

On their drive home, Amy slid her hand onto Hank’s leg. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, and she smiled. His pulse leapt. It was the first time she had initiated touching him since she’d left for her mother’s house.

He covered her fingers with his palm. “Did you have a nice time, tonight?”

“I did. And it helps to know your team a little better. Even Dirk, though I’m not sure I’ll ever have the power over you that he does.”

“He doesn’t have power over me, sweetheart. He has my respect.”

Amy nodded and slid her hand higher on his leg. He responded by pressing on the accelerator.

“I want to tell you again how sorry I am for everything that happened between us. I’m sorry I hurt you. I want you to be happy. I was being selfish.”

“I forgive you. I’m just glad we’re on the same page now.”

Hank swallowed his uncertainty which was easy to do when all his attention was focused on the location of his wife’s hand. “Me too.”

As soon as they opened the door to their apartment, Hank pulled Amy into his arms and kissed her with all the longing their time apart had built in him. He lifted her and pushed her against the wall. His emotions welled up into a fiery passion he was desperate to quench. They say, ‘makeup sex is the best’, and he was determined to prove the statement.

They bumped into the entry table causing the small lamp lighting the hallway to crash on the floor. Amy laughed and whispered, “Take me to the bedroom.”

Her wish was his command, but he only made it to the living room couch. It wasn’t until hours later that, holding hands, they found their way to their bed.
