Chapter Fourteen

The guys left that following week. As much as they wanted to stay, a contract was a contract and they were legally bound to finish the tour. I’m glad for the time apart, ironically. It was just the three of us again and it was nice, simpler. Mikey was bummed that we missed soccer sign ups for the fall season so with Halloween right around the corner, Marisol and I decided to do it up big. A distraction was what we all needed.

One guess as to what Mikey wanted to be for Halloween…

Let me just say that if you do indeed buy a Halloween costume for a little kid, say a week in advance, prepare for them to want to wear it everyday. I refused to let him have the entire thing because it was expensive and I didn’t want him ripping it before the big day, so I gave him his shield and it was apparently enough.

Because of my kid’s love of all things Avengers, Mari and I jumped on the Superhero theme as well. Mari was going to be the Scarlet Witch and I was going as Black Widow, two badass mamas.

And then I looked them up online and saw the leather.

The guys were going to be so pissed if they missed out on this. They were trying to hurry back in time, but it would all depend on what time their shows wrapped up. Luckily the Boonies played early in the afternoon and since Jase opened for them, they should be able to leave for the airport right after.

My phone trilled, startling me out of my festive thoughts, and I smiled when I saw who was calling.

“Were your ears burning?” I teased.

“Hey, love. I like knowing I’m on your mind. Evens the playing field a little.” Declan said me and I could hear the smile in his voice.

“I was just thinking about Halloween. Mikey’s over the moon that Marisol and I are getting dressed up too. We’re all going to be Avengers.”

“Tell me you’ll be head to toe in leather,” he demanded in a low voice that tugged at me.

“Declan, I’m starting to think you want me to bend you over my desk and whip you like a bad little fuck boy,” I said huskily.

“Jesus Christ, Emily! Where’d you learn to talk like this?” he swore incredulously.

Giggling, “Marisol’s Kindle”

“Wow. I’m going to start reading. You’ve got a dirty little mind, Emily Louise Scott. I love this about you.”

“Declan, you pretty much worship the ground I walk on so I’m not surprised,” I responded haughtily.

“Obviously I need to start smarting off if you’ve become this cocky,” he laughed.

“What can I do for you, love slave?” I asked, redirecting.

“I wanted to let you know that we’ve worked it out with the record label and they are allowing us to finish the album in Jacksonville. We’ve been selling the EP on the tour and it’s been doing really well. It’s also being well received online so considering they’re
