The Upstairs Room

We followed Roland up the stairs until he reached the third floor. This room was curious to me because it was very plain, so very much in contrast to the other rooms in the home that Roland had built over 20 years ago. The room had only one window that peered over the front of the house high in the dormer of the front façade. One entire wall in the room was nothing but mirrors, my best guess was that it was an in home gym, but why would anyone put heavy weight equipment all the way up on the third floor? It was confusing. Walking into the room, Chris and I, followed by Prissy and Belinda, watched as Roland began flipping the switches on the wall next to the doorway. Now that I thought about it there were far too many switches for the lighting available in the room. All of us, except Roland, stood in awe as the wall opposite the mirrors came alive, the white painted paneling slid into folding panels that when fully moved appeared as single panels on each side of the room. It was much like an electric folding closet door in a sense. What it revealed was another issue. It was a stage with a brightly polished brass pole in its center.

All of us laughed in unison. It was a stripper pole on its own stage! Karen, followed by Ryan, Christie, Steve and Connor entered the now expansive room. “Oh wow! This is too cool!” Connor exclaimed.

The guy is obviously a junior gynecologist I thought, and was sure that Prissy, Belinda, and Christie who were watching with interest were thinking the same thing.
