D.E.A. Special Agent Jim McFadden knew that it was time to pull Cyn Jordan and her two deadly cousins in for questioning, but he knew that he didn’t have enough to make a federal complaint stick for a federal grand jury. He’d been watching Cyn closely for months now. With a lot of witness reports at the restaurant where she’d worked, he could prove from the police reports that she had been inside of her car driving away when multiple shots were fired at her car. He could also prove that members of a Colombian drug cartel had been the shooters. Circumstantial evidence showed that Jose Montoya had arrived back in Colombia months ago and had been admitted to a private hospital for gunshot wounds. D.E.A. intelligence had been able to get the information on the wounds Jose had suffered.

Cyn Jordan had no connection to the cartels, so he couldn’t figure out why she would help Jose Montoya to get away from rival cartel members who were hot on his trail. How did they end up together and why, or was it just a bad coincidence? He didn’t believe in coincidences because there was always a plan or a motive, so he just had to find a way to piece it all together. He knew that it would never be admissible in court, but he had gotten a top D.E.A. evidence team to break into Cyn’s car that she’d been driving on the night of the shooting at the restaurant. They’d searched for the car for many days before it had finally turned up. They had looked for any evidence to place Jose Montoya inside of Cyn Jordan’s car that night. If he could do that, then a lot of other things would start to make sense to him. The evidence team hadn’t found any hair fibers or fingerprints, but they did find clear evidence that the car had been professionally cleaned by some of the best; but, they had left evidence of blood on the back floor’s carpet of the car. The chemicals used to clean the car had destroyed any chance of the D.N.A. analysis, but the simple fact that blood was found gave some circumstantial proof that Jose Montoya was in the back of Cyn Jordan’s car after he shot. Apparently she’d driven him to safety somewhere, but again no actual proof existed to denote that assumption. Special Agent McFadden was just guessing and trying to piece things together.

After the shooting outside of the restaurant, Cyn Jordan went from a restaurant worker to one of the most connected cocaine dealers in all of South Florida, and the only way that happened is that someone gave her a start, and McFadden’s money was on Emilio Montoya. Cyn had driven his son away from an area where men were trying to kill him and to show his gratitude, the old man had probably given her a start in the dope game.

“Hey,” he said aloud to himself. No proof and no evidence to substantiate what he knew in his heart was true.
