Chapter Eight

Shantey got to her room and unpacked her belongings. After making herself a drink from the fully stocked mini-bar, pulled out her laptop to begin her homework. She emailed a few of the friends she still had in Cleveland requesting information. Knowing they were still deep in the streets but more so in the background, she knew before the week’s end she would have the details she sought. Finishing her last email, as well as the last of her cocktail, she powered off her computer.

Taking advantage of the 18 jet, whirlpool tub that came with the room she opted for a relaxing bath and another mind-clearing cocktail. Plugging her IPod into the entertainment system’s deck, and locating her 70’s slow jams file, she piped the music throughout her suite.

Dimming the lights and dancing naked along the way to the spa-like bathroom, she went to fill the Jacuzzi tub.

“You were cold as ice...long ago,” she sang along with Rick and Tina as the tub filled. After dancing one last time, imagining in her mind Dig’em’s strong handed holding her tight, she slipped into the hot, bubbly, lilac infused waters. This was her and Dig’em’s song, and right now it was taking her where she needed to be.

As the next song began to play, a constant stream of tears slid down her face. She conjured in her mind, the multitude of ways she wanted to hurt, maim and eventually kill Trill for taking her one true love out of her life forever.

Raising her glass of Remy skyward, she said, “In due time, baby, every dog has its day. Trill had his. I will have mine. He will see me, and my face will haunt him through hell forever when he does.” The toast was done, she took a long swig of the caramel colored liquor and as a look of total peace covers her face.

Before climbing her tipsy self into the fluffy king-sized bed, Shantey decided to check her emails, just in case someone responded. “Bingo,” she purred as she seen her old friend April has replied.

April told her all she needed to know and left a number for her to call her. Seeing that it is well after three in the morning, she punches the number into her phone to be saved.

“I’ll call her tomorrow,” Shantey thinks, again powering off her computer and climbing in the bed.

Saying prayers for her son and his new family, herself and even for April for still being a true blue, she drifted into a serene slumber.

Across town Trill and his girl Jerimeka, she has completely stopped using Juicee with Trill now, return from a night out on the town. They had met up with LeVaughn and his new girl, Topaz and Germaine and Maliyah for drinks and dinner.

Shock registered on the faces of Vaughn, G-Money, and Maliyah to see Trill walk in with Juicee on his arm.

Juicee herself appeared to lighten a couple shades as she looked up and into the eyes of her ex.
