Returning to school was always a joy. This time my usual re-acquainting was enlivened with not only my exciting new career but also the sensual delight of chasing Lutka. Like a swaggering tom cat I was determined to lay my scent on her before anyone else and the only way to do so was to seek her out. It took many a fruit-less walk along the outskirts of the Montgomery farm before I finally caught a glimpse. I had her in my sight and I wasnât going to lose her now.
âLutka!â
Lutka was heading back from the village carrying a heavy basket. I lit up knowing I could be her saviour and carry it back for her. I ran towards her cheerfully. She didnât seem quite as elated as me.
âOh. Itâs youâ¦Charles Fenton.â
She remembered my name! Oh joy!
âYes, thatâs right. Iâll give you a hand with that; it looks heavy.â I offered my hand in assistance.
âNo, thanks. Iâm fine.â
âOh.â
I was back to being the wordless idiot. Not knowing what to do next, I meandered next to her in cretinous silence; so much for the tom cat. The weather had turned cooler and the lanes were bordered with plump juicy blackberries waiting to be plucked. This inspired me. I kept warm by running from bush to bush picking a handful at a time and chasing after Lutka, before she got too far away, to feed her some. Her hands were occupied with the basket, allowing me the delicious opportunity to feed the berries into her open mouth by hand. Each touch of her lips on my fingers sent a shiver down me and the glimpse of her tongue capturing each berry made me long to kiss and taste her sweetness. I realised I was her prey and her cool green eyes scrutinised my pathetic attempts at courtship. If she was to but say the words I would have lain down and rolled over waiting for my belly to be rubbed or ripped out according to her wishes. She nodded towards an abandoned hay barn just off the lane.
âLetâs go in there. I am cold.â
I practically frolicked over in my joy of spending more time alone with her. She allowed me to carry her basket as she climbed over the fence towards the barn. I barely felt the basket in my arms though Iâm sure it was full. She pointed where I was to place it and I obeyed instantly.
âI liked the berries. You may kiss me, Charles Fenton.â
âThank you.â
I licked my lips nervously and stood in front of her. Her teeth were ever so slightly stained from the blackberries and I found that entrancing. She studied my mouth and for a moment I worried I had something stuck in my teeth, until she moved closer and planted her lips onto mine.
Sheer bliss. I had no idea what I was doing but I was sure that my mouth should be open, so I opened it. She was thankfully a master of this and took that as an invitation to explore with her tongue.
