CHAPTER 22:

Michelin Star Dining.

After his inauguration in January 2012 the new President kept a low profile. His pro-war rhetoric ceased and he even made a few conciliatory noises towards Future Industries and Green Fuels. This was met with relief in London, where Max and his friends continued their work in developing a prototype Magnetic Resonator. In mid February, it was finally ready for testing and the Prime Minister was due to attend the first trial of the technology. He came promptly with two bodyguards to the main laboratory situated in the basement of the Future Industries tower block.

‘Ah, Prime Minister I am so glad you could come,’ Mr Bennett said, as he shook Horace Brown’s hand.

‘Wild horses would not have kept me away Ralph, you know that,’ the Prime Minister answered. He nodded his greetings to the children who were all present for the big day.

Max took charge of the situation. ‘Prime Minister if you would kindly come with us behind this screen, the engineers are ready to test the resonator. Dr Ahmad is our head of Engineering, and he will talk us through the test. If you’re ready Salam,’ which was the engineer’s first name.

‘Fine,’ replied Dr Ahmad, he picked up a small circular metal ball, so that they all could see it clearly. ‘This is the Magnetic Resonator device which contains enough force to power an aeroplane. For today’s purpose we will be using this car, first with petrol and then with water.’

The car was a Ford Focus which was on a track and had various leads connected to it, to monitor the performance of the engine, during the five minute testing period. They started the car which accelerated to 70mph and maintained this speed for the full five minutes.

‘Running on petrol the car reached 70mph in 6 seconds and produced 5.5 mol of carbonic acid, which is the product when carbon dioxide dissolves in water,’ Dr Ahmad informed them. ‘We will now convert the engine of the same car by attaching the M.R. device.’ They lifted the bonnet and fitted the metal ball in the engine, which was emptied of any remaining petrol. It was then fuelled with water. The car was again accelerated to 70mph and continued at that speed for five minutes.

Dr Ahmad smiled when he saw the test results. He looked towards Max and gave a ‘thumbs up’ signal. ‘Run on synchronized water the car reached 70mph in 6.4 seconds, but there was no emission of carbon dioxide or any other pollutant. A negligible amount of steam was the only by product.’

The lab erupted into a burst of applause and joy. Everyone congratulated each other, for today had been the culmination of many people’s hard work. Max in particular thanked Lucien whose help had been invaluable. The Prime Minister was in a warm embrace with Mr Bennett.

‘Congratulations to you all! I have seen enough to be convinced that this engine is the future. The implications of which, I cannot even begin to realise,’ Horace Brown said with a broad grin on his face.
