Bossy Much?
So, Iâm in an Uber heading back from my dorm room to the clinic when my cell phone goes off the second time since Iâve been in the car. Thatâs maybe a total of five minutes. Heâs blowing up my phone, and I hate talking on a cell when Iâm in a cab, on a bus, or in an Uber. Besides, Iâll be at his place in another five minutes. Call it one of my quirks, but it always seems like people who chat on their cell phones are putting their business right out there for all the public to hear.
That's just not me. Iâm a private person. Everyone knows that, and Krew should certainly know that since I didnât really start talking to him until our third or fourth physical therapy session.
Name-calling and cursing notwithstanding.
I hit the âDo Not Disturbâ on my phone. Hell, I only went back to my place to grab some stuff since he so selflessly whored himself out last night so Iâd stay. I let loose a giggle, and my Uber driver glances back at me, probably thinking Iâm weird - which no shit, I am!
Finally, we reach the destination, I hand him a tip and make a quick exit to avoid getting drenched again by the rain that continues to fall.
I go through the door to the lobby and itâs just now noon, so you can imagine my surprise at seeing Krew behind the sign-in desk, his cell up to his hear, a soft curse escaping his lips.
âLooking for me?â I ask coyly.
He whirls around, tossing his cell on the countertop. âWhere the hell did you go? And why werenât you answering your fucking phone?â he snaps.
âLanguage,â I caution, giving him a grin. I plop my backpack up on the counter. âI just Ubered back to my dorm to get my laptop so I could work on a paper due Friday, and to pick up some extra clothes since you seem to enjoy holding me captive as your sex slave.â
He suddenly relaxes, shaking his head and working up a smile. âI got worried when I went upstairs and you had vanished, is all."
I return his smile. "Didnât mean to worry you. I came down here on my way out, but the door to your office was closed and it sounded like you were on a call, so I didnât want to bother you. I figured Iâd be back by noon anyway, which guess what? I am.â
âYeah, Iâm sorry,â he says softly, âI didnât mean to come off all bossy like that. I have to cover the front desk until one or so. Want to do a deli for lunch after that?â
âSure,â I reply, âJust give me a call when youâre ready and I promise this time Iâll answer.â
He leans across the counter and gives me a sweet kiss, and yes, my heart does the pitter-pat thing. âSee ya soon, babe,â he says, giving me a naughty wink.
I swear Krew Beckett is blessedly insatiable.
