Chapter Fourteen – Noah

My eyes roam over the crowd and stop when I see Caroline standing off towards the back talking to Chloe. Since I walked out on her, I have only seen her that one brief moment at Abby’s and we barely said two words to each other...well aside from the completely awkward conversation we had in the hallway. I certainly didn’t expect to see her here tonight, and for a brief second, I fumble the lines I am singing.

I glance away, trying to focus on anyone or anything else. It doesn’t work, though, and within second my eyes are locked in on her again. I don’t know if it is the alcohol I had to drink or the fact that she looks so damn hot but I immediately get hard when I look at her.

I look away for a second, and when my eyes find her again, I see she has been joined by some dark haired bloke. He leans in close, says something in her ear and she throws her head back and laughs. He reaches his hand out and touches her arm and anger courses through my body. Then he leans in and gives her a kiss on the cheek and my blood starts to boil.

Who the fuck is that and why is he touching my girl?

The guy walks away and she and Chloe start talking about something. Caroline nods at something Chloe says and then she turns to walk away, either heading for that guy or the door – I’m not sure which. Somehow I manage to finish the last song and as soon as I am done, I jump off of the stage and run after her.

“Noah!” Dean shouts.

“I’ll be right back.” I yell back at him.

Pushing my way through the crowd, I finally catch up with Caroline. I grab a hold of her hand, startling her when I do, and I pull her out of the door and down the alley next to the building. When I am satisfied that we are far enough away from people, I stop, spin around to face her and pull her taut little body close to mine. Cupping her face in my hands, I press my lips to hers hungrily and greedily. She sucks my bottom lip into her mouth and I feel like I am about to crumble. My body presses hers up against the brick wall.

“God, I’ve missed you baby and I want you so, so badly.” I cover her neck with kisses. Her fingers curl into my hair as she moves her body even closer to mine.

“What does this mean Noah?” She asks breathily. “If we do this, what does it mean?”

My body stiffens. My hands drop to my sides and I take a step back. “Nothing has changed for me Caroline. I don’t want a relationship.”

She shakes her head, tears gathering in her eyes. “Well, nothing has changed for me either. I’m not your toy Noah. If you don’t want to be with me then you need to leave me alone so that I can get over you.
