“Looks good on you, Ber.” Sarah poured coffee for both of them.

“What do you mean?” Accepting the mug from her, Berry frowned.

“Don’t be dense. You know. You’re glowing.”

“Well, it probably won’t last. It never does.”

“Enjoy it while it does, then.” Sarah opened the fridge and took out butter and marmalade. “Toast. One slice or two?”

“One. I’m baking this morning.”

“I wouldn’t mind two.”

All negative feelings vanished when Berry saw Galen standing in the doorway, fresh from her shower. The fluttering in her stomach had nothing to do with needing breakfast.

“Good morning, Galen. Two it is. Help yourself to coffee.”

Sarah turned her attention to slicing the bread and Berry allowed herself to bask in the smile radiating from Galen’s face. In the time it took to put the coffee mug down on the counter, her lover closed the distance between them in two quick strides. Berry leaned into the taller woman’s embrace and welcomed the lips that captured hers with the tenderness she had first encountered only two days ago.

“I’d say, ‘get a room,’ but that’s a bit unnecessary. Should I put a hold on the toast?”

At Sarah’s teasing words, they pulled apart. Galen’s stomach rumbled loudly and Berry laughed.

“No, I think this one needs feeding.”

“Sit yourselves down. I’ll bring it over when it’s done.”
