“Bitch!”

I muttered the words softly, not wanting her to hear. I had slaved for countless hours on that damn essay, perfecting it over and over until it should have gotten an A+. How she had managed to give it only a damn ‘C’ is anyone’s guess. It certainly wasn’t fair and I was really royally pissed. But how to get my revenge?

I then guessed she was only doing it because I had snubbed her eighteen year old daughter, Cassie. Cassie was one of those homely chicks that was flat chested and sporting outrageous buck teeth, just like her professor mom.

Cassie had asked me to escort her to the high school graduation dance, like that was ever going to happen. Before she asked me, though, her mom the widow had already subtly approached me and suggested that since neither of us had a date for the dance, it might be fun if I took Cassie, her daughter. She had asked me this a whole four months in advance, knowing damn well I wouldn’t have asked anyone so early on. Not able to say no, I waited until the dance was only a month away, then made up a flimsy excuse about having to work that night. It never dawned on me that she would then ask my brother to tell her where I worked, so that she could get her professor mom to send them a letter, asking them to give me the night off. My brother told her I didn’t have any job. Being backed into a corner, I finally had to admit that I had no job to both Cassie and her mother, and that I had merely made up the whole thing so that I might get out of having to take Cassie to the dance. Well, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Cassie’s mom was absolutely livid, and sought revenge.

Still, if she wanted to get back at me she could have given me a ‘B.’

Getting even ‘B’ on the essay would have given me an overall term mark of B+ in History. With a B+ and six ‘A’s on my other subjects, I could have secured a full scholarship to Princeton. As it now stood, I had full scholarships to seven other colleges, but not to Princeton, because her ‘C’ had dragged my overall term mark in History to an embarrassing C+.

She had unfairly fucked me out of going to Princeton, and I was seeing red. Both my parents had died when I was younger and so I had no one to help me achieve my dreams. I needed that damn scholarship, but her vindictive marking scheme had taken it all away from me. To my way of thinking she needed to be taught a lesson. And then it dawned on me. At forty and single, there was no way she would ever want another baby.
