Chapter 12

One quality that Sylvain and Taryn obviously shared was their work ethic. Once the two got absorbed into the details of what they needed to do, it enveloped both of them, making the time go by quickly. Every so often one or the other would pause to look at the other when they thought they weren’t paying attention. Then they’d look up and the other would turn away, not wanting to be caught.

That’s how the entire first day in Florida went and when 6 p.m. came around Sylvain asked Taryn if she’d like to go listen to an up and coming rock band at one of his clubs. There’s be a few celebrities there and some promising music.

“That sounds like a blast,” Taryn said, stretching out.

Sylvain walked up to her and pushed her blonde hair back from her face, sending a tingle down Taryn’s spine from the gentle intimacy of the touch. Although she didn’t have much to compare it to, it felt like the touch of a lover more than that of someone who was just a fuck buddy. Taryn quickly shook her head, wanting to release that thought from her mind. Don’t make more out of this and blow it, she scolded to herself.

“What’s wrong?” Sylvain asked.

“Oh nothing, that just tickled,” Taryn replied, not wanting to disclose any part of her thoughts to him.

“Well, we can dine at the club before the music starts if you like or would you like to go somewhere else first?”

“Hmm...why don’t we go somewhere else first? You deserve a little time away from the watchful eye of your staff on occasion. If anything, you can see what it’s like to be someone that people don’t always bend over backwards for,” Taryn said, laughing. It was always interesting to see the way Sylvain reacted to little teases.

“Why work so hard if people don’t do as I please,” Sylvain responded. “I don’t see you complaining about how demanding I am in all areas.”

Taryn bit her lip, enjoying the playful banter turned sexual innuendo. “This is true. You definitely have a unique ability to create extraordinary response to your every move.”

“I think you’d better go get dressed or I’ll never want to leave this room tonight,” Sylvain said.

With that, Taryn went into her room. She smiled, wondering why Sylvain had her staying with him once again. Sure, part of it was work, but she also suspected it was more. It didn’t seem like he liked to be alone at all, despite claiming he wanted to be alone. Why else would he have staff live with him? Sure, having Jacob live with him made sense because they were related, but nothing else really did. He couldn’t make his home that messy with just him there, especially since he wasn’t really there all that often.

A half hour later Taryn was ready to go. She had her hair piled up with some tendrils coming down that accentuated her face and eloquent neckline, a low plunging halter top
