Sundrops kiss the forest leaves

Honeydew and buzzing bees

Ponds of golden koi and dreams

Well-wished coins and sky-bussed trees

All fun and games

All stays the same

Book of blank pages

Stories in the making

Welcome to a happy place

Where nothing ever ages

Silk grass blades

Bubbling riverbanks

Cooling willow shade

Streams from which the elk drank

Under the willow

Is where I’ll stay

Under the willow

Where everything is okay

Burning Coloring Books

I lit them all aflame

covered up my tracks

so I wouldn’t have to face my shame

I guess that now my gig is up, close the curtain on the act

I burned my coloring books

I’ll admit, I cried

I burned them all away

so I could save my pride

I tore up my stuffed animals and threw them in the trash

I locked away my pacifiers and broke my sippy cups in half

And it's so sad

and it makes me mad

that I had to burn my coloring books

I had to say goodbye

I burned my coloring books because my secret I couldn’t hide
