“Man, what you doing with that gun?”

“Unc they killed my brother and walking around like its all good. I got to do something,” he said

“Man there’s too much violence in our black communities. We are killing folk that looks just like us the only thing that we can do now is to honor Carlos is by putting down our guns.”

“Okay unc.” Latham walks out

“I hope that boy don’t do anything stupid. My sister has suffered enough.” He takes a drink from his bag, gets up, goes through Mya, Zoey and Sharon purses, and takes money. He get’s money from Zoey’s purse looks in Mya purse “that girl stay broke.” He thought to himself. Then he get’s money from Sharon purse. “Oh yeah I hit a jackpot.” he puts money in his pocket as he walks out; When Zoey, Mya and Sharon come in.

“This is nice – we haven’t been together in a long time,” Sharon said in a joyful tone.

“Okay, we need to do this more often,” Mya said while still dancing

“Do yall want to go to the Destiny’s Lounge? Sharon ask

“For what? Isn’t that the club where Mike hangs out?”

“Yeah,” Sharon said.

“So why are you trying to go there?” Mya asked.

“I just want to see if he’s with someone,” Was her response.

“Honey please,” Zoey, said while laughing

“Okay, I just want to see if she looks better than me.”

“Why does it matter?” Mya asked

“Oh, you’re too young to understand.” was her response

“I understand that you’re a fool,” Mya said

“What?”

“Why are you running behind him, didn’t you go to his house and he wouldn’t let you in?”

“I just want to see if he’s happy.”

“You are crazy. Plus, I have to go to work,” Zoey said

Mya was laughing so hard “sliding down a pole aint no job,” she said

“Okay you got jokes, but do you even have five dollars?”

“Is the pay good,” Sharon asked

“I make like a thousand dollars a day.” Was her response

“That’s good for a day’s work,” Sharon replied

“I guess. But I could pull more than that doing a private party.”

“I don’t make a thousand dollars in a month.”Mya said

“I guess not, working at McDonalds.” Sharon replied

“So you are trying to front?”

“Girl, I was playing,” she said as she sits next to Zoey.

“Zoey, I need a favor,” She started slowly.

Zoey unconsciously raised her eyebrow, although she tried to keep a blank look on her face. She knew what was coming. Sharon had been acting too nice.

“I lost my job about a month ago and I still haven’t had any luck finding another one. I have my resume out to at least a dozen companies. I know I will land something soon, but I was planning to move into a new apartment in two weeks. I’ve already signed a lease and everything,” Sharon said in a low voice to ensure that no one could hear.
