The next couple of weeks flew by as the school semester began to wind down. With three, ten page papers due, final exams to study for, and a huge manuscript to help the editing team edit, I was busier than ever. With so much to do, most people would become easily frustrated or feel overwhelmed. I was the exact opposite. I enjoyed the chaos of so many things to accomplish in such a short period of time. With so much information to occupy my mind, that left little time or space for me to think about all of the evil images that still lurked deep in my mind.

Lauren, who was also finishing up her fall semester, was just as busy as I was. She was now juggling her time between work, school, the apartment (where she rarely slept anymore), and Isaac’s house (where she was now sleeping at least four nights a week). Lauren, however, hated being this busy, because that meant less time with Isaac. I remembered back when she used to get sad over losing time with me. Man, times have really changed.

As for Cole, he busied himself at the shop and fixing cars for his friends and neighbors. Occasionally, he would show up at the tattoo parlor to help Isaac, but if I would allow it, Cole would hang out with me while I was studying or editing another manuscript. It was almost as if he enjoyed the quietness when I worked in my apartment. He would sit and quietly watch television or rest on the couch with me as I studied. I was growing used to his presence around my apartment, especially since Lauren was never home anymore.

Once finals were over, Thanksgiving came and went without any issues. Lauren and Isaac spent the holiday with Lauren’s family, I went home to mine, and Cole enjoyed Burger King with Kat and Smalls who apparently hate family gatherings.

It wasn’t until December had come that I started to feel the pressure of my senior year of college looming.

“I don’t understand why you are freaking out,” Cole began, eyeing me as I scanned my college course catalog. I had one day left to select my Spring Semester classes. These would be the final classes I would take in college and I wanted to make sure I didn’t just fulfill my degree requirements, but that I also took classes that interested me and that I felt would actually benefit me in the real world.

Sighing, I closed the catalog and leaned back against the sofa cushions. “I know this sounds crazy, but I just want to make sure I make my last semester in college everything I want it to be. I want everything to be perfect.” I stated.

Cracking a smile, Cole began rubbing my feet that were sprawled across his lap. “You worry too much,” he joked. “You make good grades. You go to class and turn in all your work. I know you will have a great last semester. Dammit, you just need to stop worrying and actually believe in yourself,” he said strongly.
