Most Frequently Asked Health Questions

Question: I suffer from an inflamed colon. Raw fruits and raw vegetables give me gas pains when I eat them. How can I go on this diet, since I haven’t eaten them in years? How can I eat them now?

Answer: Of course you can’t eat a lot of coarse raw fruits and vegetables at first! You will have to slowly start your program by using soft, mashed, cooked vegetables, stewed fruit such as apple sauce and then gradually add some soft, young, fresh lettuce. Then a small sliced tomato. Your one day a week water cure fast will help rest and heal your inflamed colon. No food will pass through your digestive tract for 24 hours. This gives your Vital Force a chance to do its healing work. It took you a long time to get into this miserable condition! You must be patient and give your body a chance to heal this raw, inflamed digestive tract. Then have a day where you eat nothing but apple sauce or grated fresh apples. Also use Aloe Gel (drink 1-2 Tbsps 3 times daily in juice or distilled water) and enjoy Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar drink (pg. 122) to help soothe/heal digestive tract and colon.

Question: Can a five-year-old child go on this program?

Answer: Yes, in a modified way. A five-year-old child is growing and therefore must have the growth foods, such as soybeans, brown rice, beans, lentils and tofu, etc. Optional are some fertile eggs, goat’s milk and natural cheese. Teach the child to enjoy raw and cooked vegetables, raw vegetable salads and fresh fruits along with nourishing growth foods (recipes page 123). A child of five should have 100% whole grain breads, cereals and pastas. Raw nuts and organic nut butters are perfect foods for growing children, as raw wheat germ, spirulina and green barley powders. A child can easily fast one 24 hour period weekly. The Bragg children fasted one day a week from age five on. Fast days allowed more time for play and reading and they hardly thought of food on their fast/detox cleansing days. They always had their Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar drink cold or warm, which they loved.
