I’m so pissed at Neal right now, I can’t even see straight. I’ve never threatened him before, not even when I was out of my mind for my next high and he was the one keeping it from me. Back then I knew I’d thank him in the end, whereas it definitely does not apply now. This is different. Walking toward Liz, where she’s sitting on the couch with Amelia, her eyes narrow as she reads my expression from clear across the room.

“Come on, princess, we’re leaving,” I say, grabbing her hand and pulling her up from the couch.

“What happened?” she asks, as I drag her toward the elevator, storming past Neal and Hunter as they’re standing in the doorway leading to his office.

“De Luca, don’t be irrational,” Hunter’s diplomatic voice reaches me and I fight the urge to punch him in the throat just to hear him choke on it.

“You can both fuck off,” I toss over my shoulder, entering the passcode and getting into the elevator with Liz by my side. For once in her life she isn’t fighting me and I could fucking kiss her right now for that. At least my girl knows when to fight me and when not too.

The elevator doors close before us and I step away from her, pure rage bristling beneath my skin, begging for an outlet. My fists clench at my sides, itching to be pounded into something or someone. The thought that words spoken by other people might make me lose Liz is rubbing me the wrong way. Things are already fragile between us, the fuck up I am, making all of this hard enough without other people interfering in any of it.

“Killian?” she asks, her voice soft from beside me.

Glancing toward her I notice she’s looking at me with narrowed eyes, uncertainty floating in the darkness of her gaze. I imagine it must look like I’m about to blow up with my chest heaving, my fists clenching, my teeth grinding. This isn’t a part of me she’s seen before.

I step toward her, wanting to erase all of it, instead she steps back from me. The little act of fear does nothing but anger me further. There is no need for fear if she belongs to me and I want to kill Neal for making her feel like she has something to fear from me or Cosa Nostra. My hand grips the hair in the nape of her neck, tilting her face up to mine. Her breathing is heavy and she swallows, my eyes following the movement along her throat. The look in her eyes changes from fear to challenge, and my mouth tips into a smile in response.

“There she is,” I whisper against her skin before crushing my mouth to hers. My tongue sweeps through her mouth, controlling the movements for mere seconds before she gives as hard as she’s getting. She drags my bottom lip between her teeth, biting down hard enough to draw blood and I can’t help but smirk at her in response.
