Chapter Thirty Two

“Get them all,” Gunner said, breaking my train of thought.

“I can’t do that,” I protested, “they’re all so expensive.”

“Don’t worry about it, baby girl, it’s on us,” Maddox added, watching my face carefully.

I looked at the store clerk, almost feeling embarrassed by their generosity, and said, “I guess box them all up.”

“Great choices,” she said with a broad grin. I guess she would support that decision; she would make a killing on the commission today.

The day had started normally enough, a very late brunch on the patio, a swim, and now shopping along Miami’s exclusive streets. I’d never been one for designer fashion, but the Chanel, Prada, Lancel and Armani brands had been hard to resist.

I was walking out with shoes, clothing, dresses, handbags, and a few jackets, all to the tune of almost twenty thousand dollars.

It was unreal, but I decided to take it. Accept their gifts and believe them when they said it brought them pleasure to bring me such happiness.

God knows they did so much for me already, that the gifts felt excessive, but what could a girl do when she looked so good in so many outfits?

“You are beautiful when you shop,” Maddox said, “I could watch you try on clothes all day.”

“I would prefer being in the change room with you though,” Gunner said, shooting me a wanton grin.

“I think we would all prefer that,” I replied, running my hands down the front of my new dress, loving the way it hugged my curves, as if it were made just for me.

“Would you please pack these up and have them delivered?” Gunner said to the clerk when she returned. He handed her his credit card, she scanned it, and the transaction was done. He told her the address, I got back into my boring dress, and we decided to go for lunch.

After we ordered our meal, I looked out over the ocean off the restaurant’s patio. The day was amazing, perfect and sunny with a cool breeze coming off the water.

“Could you imagine living here?” I asked. “It’s so peaceful and pretty.”

“Unfortunately our company headquarters are in Boston,” Gunner replied.

“And we’ve thought about moving them, but it’s just not logistically feasible,” Maddox added.

“Spoken like two Bosses,” I laughed. “I was just talking out loud. I know if we lived down here and had a routine, it would end up being the same as back home, only hotter.”

“We?” Gunner and Maddox said at the same time, looking at me intensely.

“I mean me,” I added hastily, embarrassed by my faux pas.

“No, it’s okay, baby girl,” Maddox said.

“We don’t mind you thinking of us,” Gunner said, “but we were hoping you’d be able to make a decision at some point. Which one of us do you prefer?”

I blushed and took a gulp of my mimosa. I looked at them and took a deep breath. “What if I don’t want to choose?” I asked, keeping my voice steady.

“What do you mean?” Maddox asked, his brows furrowed.

“It hasn’t been long enough, there’s no pressure for you to make your decision,” Gunner said.
