Chapter 4

Brigs stirred the next morning as a touch of sunlight slanted through the curtains where Samantha hadn’t quite pulled them completely shut the night before. At his side, she lay, her chocolate-brown hair a tumbled mess and the white cotton bedsheet covering only one of her breasts, the other hidden by his big hand curled around it. She had such beautiful creamy skin, soft and smooth compared to his own tougher bronze skin.

Making love to her last night had been magical, and when she’d taken him into her body a second time by impaling herself on his cock, even more so. Thankfully he hadn’t hurt her any further. She was such a vixen.

A knock rattled the front door, a series of three short raps followed by a final tap which always signified Ben’s distinct knock. Danny always let out a cherry whistle with his knock to warn of his arrival, but no whistle reached him. Ben alone awaited him outside.

He swung his legs out of bed, scooped his boxers and stepped into them before zipping up his black pants. Barefoot, he closed the bedroom door without even a snick then checked through one of the windows overlooking the porch. Definitely Ben. He stood leaning against the railing in navy shorts and a dark muscle-tee, his sunglasses covering his eyes against the bright morning sunshine, his gaze alert on the beach and swaying palms.

He opened the door and joined Ben on the porch, pressed his hands firm to the railing as he leaned on it. “Morning. Have you got an update?”

“Sure have.” Ben continued scanning the beach. “Danny and I passed around a photo of Gair Forster at the village and got confirmation he’s never been seen on this island. This morning I returned to the wharf when a seaplane flew in.”

“A seaplane?” That didn’t sound good.

“Yeah, with Hugh Forster on board. No sign of Gair though, so maybe he sent Hugh out scouting.” Ben cleared the growl from his throat. “Danny’s watching him now. I came to warn you of his arrival, which means we need to leave, and preferably before Hugh discovers Samantha is here.”

“Agreed.” There wasn’t a chance he’d allow his woman to remain here a moment longer, because where Hugh could be found, Gair was never far behind. Their enemy was closing in fast, something he’d never allow. “We’ll take her to my island. It’s not far from here, then one of us will return and deal with Hugh.”

“I’ll return.” Ben slapped him on the shoulder. “It’s been a while since I’ve been to your island.”

“It’s been six months for me.” Which had been far too long. Work had kept him away from the island he considered his soul, an island he often brought clients out to. It was his safe-haven for them, the perfect destination for his current needs as well. “I’ll charter a seaplane to take us there, through the firm I usually use—Wiremu Haka’s.”

“Good. I’ll call Judge Knight and update him about what’s just happened.
