"Good night, Michael," she lifted her arms and entwined them around my neck while pressing her soft lips to my cheek, "Sweet dreams."

"You too, Cloe," I savored the feeling of her body pressed against me. She was soft and warm and inviting. Sexual images taunted from the back of my mind but I forced them away.

"Oh, and," she said softly, "If you have trouble sleeping... you can always come in here, okay?"

"What?" my body tensed.

"You mentioned you didn't sleep well at breakfast, remember?" she fluffed her fingers through my hair as she smiled, "You can wake me up for a chat, or whatever. If you get lonesome, that is. Though you'll really have to shake me to wake me up. I sleep very hard."

"Ah, right. So you said."

"Plus, I've had that wine at dinner. I'm sure that will knock me right out soon." She pulled her head back, smiled once more, then pressed her lips to mine before I could react. "Ooops. I probably shouldn't have done that unless invited to."

"Cloe..."

"No," she said as she pressed her finger to my lips. "Don't say anything, okay? Just... if you need me, you know where to find me."

"What the hell?" I muttered to myself as I made my way to my bedroom. After I closed the door, I sat down on the edge of my bed and replayed every word in my mind, trying to make sense of the situation. Could she have been coming on to me? I could expect it from any other girl, but from Cloe, it felt... wrong. But why? She wasn't my daughter. She wasn't related to me. I barely knew her. At best, I was a benefactor.

Okay. So. I loved her mother a long time ago. But that was far in the past, and shouldn't have any bearing on the situation. Except it did. And, she was young, far younger than I- less than half my age! But did that truly matter? She was an adult.

I pulled my hand across my face and tried to rub the confusion away. After pouring myself another drink, I stepped out onto the balcony. Thoughts of Simone nibbled at the edge of my subconscious, but they were easily smothered. Something had changed during this trip. I was beginning to let go of the past.

After another drink, I left my bedroom and headed for Cloe's. I rapped my knuckles against the door and waited for a response. When none came, I pushed the door open and stepped inside. The ambient light slanting through the windows was enough to see Cloe stretched out across her mattress.

"Cloe?" I spoke her name softly as I neared the bed. She lay with an arm tucked beneath her head, the other rested just below her breast. Her thin nightgown was tugged up, the bottom ruffle barely covering her pubic mound. I could tell she wasn't wearing any panties, and the thought made my mouth water. I was hungry for this girl.

"Cloe..." I whispered her name as I ran the tip of my finger across her bare arm.
