The night was quiet except for Seth’s breathing. It was quickly becoming my favorite lullaby. The first time Seth and I had ever slept together was out of pure need for one another. And now, the second time, this time — it was out of love. I couldn’t move. Frozen in thought, I tried to remember back if Sammy had ever made me feel this way, this love, but I couldn’t recall. And I know it was lame of me to try to compare the two or whatever, especially after this moment but these were the only two guys I had ever been with, and I couldn’t help it. I just couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways Seth was much more amazing.

“What are you thinking about?” Seth was now perched on his elbow, staring at me. He brought his hand up to my hair, steadily moving a piece away from my face before letting his fingertips trail down to my shoulder and then to my arm, slowly caressing it as he spoke.

“Just about how perfect this moment was — is.”

“Me too.” He brought his hand back up to my face and stroked my bottom lip.

“Can I kiss you?” he whispered closely. His breath brushed against my cheeks. His words brought me back to the night we met when he had asked the same question. The butterflies in my stomach started to flutter again.

“You never have to ask me.” A smile widened against his cheeks. He cupped my face with his free hand before crushing his soft cushion-like lips against mine.
