“WHAT THE fuck is going on?”

Marc jerked awake at the sound of Casey’s voice. He opened his eyes and saw Lance blinking at him. He smiled at his brother and turned in the bed to face Casey. Casey’s body was shaking, and his hands were clenched into fists at his side as he glared down at Marc.

“Hey you.” Marc sat up against the headboard and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. “What are you doing here?”

“What am I doing here? Seriously?” Casey’s mouth dropped opened, and he stared at Marc. “We were supposed to go riding this morning, or did you have so much fun last night that you forgot?”

“Sorry.” Marc swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood. He glanced back to where Lance was watching them. “Go back to sleep, Lance, it’s still early.”

“M’kay.” Lance turned on his side, and his breathing evened out.

“What the fuck is going on here, Marc?” Casey nodded toward Lance and then returned his glare to Marc.

“Keep your voice down.” Marc yawned and stretched. “It was a long night.”

“I bet it was.”

“Let me use the bathroom, and I’ll meet you in the living room.” Marc bent to drop a kiss on Casey’s lips, but Casey turned away. Marc shrugged and led the way out of the bedroom. He stopped at the bathroom as Casey continued on to the living room, relieved himself, and brushed his teeth. Marc slipped back into the bedroom to changed his pajama bottoms for the pair of jeans he had discarded the night before. He smiled at the sight of Lance snuggled up in his bed, and it clicked—what it must look like to Casey. “Shit.”

Marc left the room and closed the door behind him. He didn’t want Lance to hear the upcoming argument. No wonder Casey had looked at him like he was lower than dirt. If he had been in Casey’s position he wasn’t sure he wouldn’t have jumped to the same conclusion. He steeled his spine against what was sure to be an explosive meeting and headed into the living room to face the firing squad—otherwise known as Casey.

“What the fuck, Marc?” Casey started in on him as soon as he stepped into the room.

“Slow down and give me a chance to explain.” Marc stepped toward where Casey stood with his arms crossed over his chest. He sighed when Casey easily sidestepped him and moved across the room from him. “Always ready to believe the worst of me, aren’t you?” Marc had thought they were past that.

“What the fuck do you expect me to believe? I show up here to find you in bed with another guy.” Casey clenched his jaw. “To make it worse, you were both naked.”

“No, we weren’t.” He understood what it looked like, and it looked bad, but it seemed that Casey had already decided he was guilty. Without ever even giving him the chance to explain who Lance was. It hurt, way more than he would have expected it to.
