Adam looked at him fiercely; they had a stare down for several seconds before Marco finally let go and took a step back.

“Okay, I understand. I hope you’ll reconsider. I’m not gonna give up, if that’s what you think, Adam.”

“Whatever, Marco,” Adam said. He hopped on the cruiser and started pedaling out of the yard and down the street furiously, trying to put as much distance between him and his old lover as quickly as possible.

He heard Marco’s car vroom to a start behind him and he shook his head and groaned, “Oh no, please don’t follow me… please don’t follow me… fucking asshole,” Adam mumbled to himself as he pedaled even faster. He turned the corner and tried to think of ways he could lose him. It would be hard, though, with him on a bike and Marco in a fast, new Mustang.
