Ylanti stared at Duncan, wide-eyed, then burst into laughter so loudly it echoed in the study.

Dylena heard him from the hall, and ran in the study. She had not heard her loved one laugh in forty turns.

“Castrated?! Truly?!” Ylanti asked, giggling.

“Almost” Duncan assured, making Ylanti laugh even worse.

“It must be a good bulletin” Dylena stated, reaching him and smiling.

Ylanti looked up at her, sighed, and the smile vanished from his face.

“I shall not disturb you further” She assured, nodding, and started to leave.

“You shall come here and listen to this bulletin” He ordered.

Dylena took a deep breath, nodded, and reached him, sitting beside him. She smiled at Duncan. It was a forced smile; full of worry.

“Proceed, Cousin” Ylanti ordered.

“I cannot; you have not advised her of what has happened so far” Duncan made him notice.

Ylanti thought about it, nodded, and looked at Dylena, noticing the hopeful, yet worried look in her eyes.

“You shall stop staring at me, as if I am a delicate flower!” He warned.

“Cousin! Your manners!” Duncan protested.

“My manners are no concern of yours!” Ylanti shot back at him, annoyed.

“I shall leave…” Dylena stopped talking, as Ylanti grabbed her hand and pulled her back seated on the chair.

“Ylanti” Duncan ordered.

Ylanti looked at his cousin, annoyed.

“You are gaining weight, and you are not a warrior right now. I understand your predicament, but you will stop addressing your mate as if she did you an injury, is that understood? You either behave, or you shall not hear the end of this bulletin, or any other, for that matter” Duncan warned.

“Don’t you dare address him like that” Dylena hissed at Duncan, angrily.

“He is my cousin, and acting like an idiot; I shall address him as I please” Duncan shot back at her.

Ylanti’s gray eyes widened at that insult, his canines shot out and he stared at his cousin like he wanted to kill him.

“What; think you can take me? Go for it!” Duncan snarled at him.

“If you ever speak to my Beloved in that tone again, I shall stick you on a pike regardless of our relation” Ylanti hissed at him, and he meant it.

“Oh… Fair enough. I apologize, Lady Dylena” Duncan stated, bowing at her.

Ylanti was very surprised of his cousin’s reply. His canines retracted, and he looked at him, puzzled.

“You never apologize” He mumbled, confused.

“To you? No. To her I will” Duncan replied, simply.

“There is no need” Dylena assured.

“Yes there is. Lady Dylena; in his despair of being unable to protect you due to his state, my idiot cousin has failed to realize that he has repeatedly berated you, lacked you of respect, ignored you, and even blamed you for his condition, instead of rejoicing over creating life. I shall not be as ignorant” Duncan warned, staring at her.

Dylena’s eyes widened, and she stared at her mate.

“Is this why you have been so angry? Because you cannot protect me?!” She accused, bewildered.

“OF COURSE IT IS!” He yelled at her, furious.

“Ylanti!” Duncan protested.

“HOW DARE YOU!” Dylena yelled back at him, and it stunned both males.
