She kept staring down at the phone, willing Mike to text back instantly so that she wouldn’t have to keep talking to Joanne. Darla liked feeling that she had a friend to talk to about the very strange things that seemed to be happening to her and inside her, but right now it just felt too embarrassing.

“The girl on the blog said that her officer made her wear a plug in her ass,” Joanne blurted out. “Do you have to do that?”

At least the question had a concrete element to it, so Darla felt like she could respond. “No,” she said. “But it sounds like that’s a different kind of program, right? Did she have to wear a diaper?”

“No,” Joanne admitted.

Darla almost asked, Did her officer shave her between her legs?, but thank goodness the text came back from Mike at that moment.
