Sitting in his office chair, like a king on his throne, Grant gave his little girl a cruel smile. He’d been paying attention to her lessons - unlike her - and he was looking forward to showing his little Amaya why she needed to do so as well.

“Well, Princess, how did you enjoy your lessons today?” he asked, his voice deceptively gentle.

“Well the lessons are necessary and you’re going to have them every morning,” he said sternly, enjoying the way she slumped a little in disappointment. “In fact, I’d like to see how well you paid attention this morning. Take off your dress.”

Amaya’s dark eyes, which had gone wide with anxiety at his pronouncement, got even bigger at his order. “Take off my dress?”

She gave a little yelp as Nanny Quinn swatted her backside. Through the layers of her dress it couldn’t have hurt, but it had obviously startled her.
