MILA

We make our way back to my home. Now Dominic is tucking Dante into bed and reading him a bedtime story. As I walk to my dresser to collect my pj’s, Dominic’s phone keeps buzzing. The nosy and curious side of me wants to know who it is. It’s buzzed like five times, maybe more. Would it be wrong if I snooped? No, right? Since we are a couple. Chewing on my nails, I cast a gaze at his phone sitting on the nightstand. Fuck it. I pick up the phone to find messages from Samantha. My heart is drumming against my ribs. I hold my breath, reading through them.

Samantha: Hey baby, call me. I miss you. We can work this out.

Samantha: I love you, Dominic, so much, I know you still love me.

Samantha: Dominic, I know you feel something for me. Remember the other night? You undressed me, ripping my clothes off, baby. You were fingering me until I came undone. You kissed me with so much eagerness. I know you love me. I felt it in our kiss.

Does he still love her? Did he tell her? They were together for a year. What the fuck? He ripped her clothes off. This must have been recent. Fucking asshole, he goes all alpha, pulling Brian off of me when he’s out doing shit with his fiancée. Those two are old messages he never responded to. The new messages have me wondering.

Samantha: Baby, I miss you so much. Come back to me. I know this is some old fling you have going on. She was just a high school girl. You might think you have it for her. It will fade. You need closure. You proposed to me because you love me.

Samantha: We can still get married. I haven’t canceled our arrangements. I know you will come back to me. She has nothing to offer you.

Samantha: I’m not giving up on us. You’ll realize I’m the one for you. I’m it for you, baby.

My stomach churns; according to the texts, he was just with her. He had sex with her. He lied. Is this what this is a fling, an itch he needs to scratch? I repeatedly blink at the text.

“He’s sound as sleep, Angel.”

I hadn’t noticed Dominic walking in.

He frowns “What’s wrong?” I hand him his phone. He slides his fingers through his soft silky hair, he reads the messages.

“Oh, baby, this woman is full of shit. She knows nothing about us or me. I’m sorry, I will delete her number and block her.” He sits next to me on the bed and lifts me onto his lap.

I’m struggling to get out of his hold, he holds on to me tightly.

“Baby, please stop,” he murmurs.

“Let me go, Dominic,” I growl. I’m so fired up.

He possessively holds me in place.

“What the fuck was the text, Dominic? You ripped her clothes off just weeks ago and fucked her,” I shout.

“I didn’t fuck her, Mila, and it wasn’t what you think. And it happened before we got together.
