Bust of Alexander from Alexandria now in the British Museum. It portrays an idealized Alexander with windswept, tousled hair, fleshy lips and pronounced chin, and dates to around 250 B.C.E.

All that remains of the Mausoleum today. It survived largely intact until damaged by earthquakes in the 13th century C.E. In 1494, the Knights of St. John of Malta quarried the site to strengthen the defenses of nearby Bodrum Castle.

Reconstruction of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (modern Bodrum), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built around 351 B.C.E. It was seen by Alexander in 334, and may have influenced the funeral pyre he built for Hephaestion as well as his own several tombs in Alexandria.
