Court evidence: Diary of Cassie Harris, October, 1990
Yesterday, when we were sitting on the couch kissing at his place, I told Brad my nickname for him was âWillieâ.
I said it came from the Modesty Blaise cartoon series. Willie Garvin is the name of Modestyâs handsome henchman. Geddit?
Brad wasnât really paying attention, he was trying to watch boring old cricket on the television, so I slapped his leg.
âGeddit?â
He pushed my hand away and told me to stop it. He was desperate to watch cricket, some old match highlights. Correct me if I am wrong but is cricket not the worldâs most boring game? Plus I do not like being ignored. So I slapped him again and again.
He told me to âstop itâ then âdonât be so childishâ.
I jabbed him in the ribs. He pushed me away. I was getting annoyed at being ignored, so I raised my hand up and slapped it down really hard on his bare leg in a massive camel bite. I was mucking around but, as usual, had taken it a bit too far. But I was just trying to get his attention. The more he ignored me, the more determined I became to get his attention. Simple teenage girl physics. Willie is an old man and he should be respecting a pretty young thing like me.
âWillie,â I said, in my little girl voice. âCan I have another drink, pweeeze!â
âYou can get it,â he said.
âGET ME A DRINK!â
I kept goading him, poking him in the ribs. He was getting irate. (As I write this, I can see itâs obvious things were not going to end well).
Willieâs face turned beetroot. A vein I did not even know he had popped out of his forehead, like a twisted and angry worm.
In truth I felt a little scared. Brad has this thing for knives. But I was thinking if he can ignore me touching him to watch the CRICKET, then the magic in our relationship must be fading. I no longer held him in thrall. I have to do something.
âI need some social lubricant.â I emphasized the last word. I always want to be seduced.
It did the trick. He grabbed me, slobbering all over my breasts, really pawing at me. It was awful. I had to slap him across the face to make him stop.
Whoa! Big mistake. Dude got angry.
âDon't you fucking slap me like that ever again,â he snapped.
It is the first time Brad has sworn at me, although I know I was asking for it.
At least he fetched my drink, so I sort of won in the end.
***
Brad is a boring, boring OLD MAN. He never sits still with me for too long. But I suppose he will make a good husband for me because I donât like to clean. Iâm going to be rich enough to afford a cleaner.
I suppose I will marry Brad. Heâs quite attractive for his age and he holds himself well. He is clean-shaven and wears thick-rimmed dark glasses to read with. His
