CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Courtland

My picture of the perfect life included Sin and I, three beautiful children, and a big house. Of course, Sin and I would be a power couple. I had so many thoughts about us building a life together. I had been wanting to propose to Sin for a while. It was my intention to ask her to marry me the other day when we spent the day together, but she was so tired, and I just wanted to get her out and spend time with her.

I could have killed Victoria when I saw Sin’s nearly lifeless body early this morning. Victoria was not offering any information about what really happened, and she didn’t want me to touch Sin or get involved. She also didn’t seem to care what happened to Sin. I wasn’t sure where this hatred Victoria was showing for Sin came from, but I was going to get to the bottom of it. I was happy to know that when Jackson pulled the trigger the bullet hit her ass; my only regret was that it didn’t hit her in the heart.

I came back in from letting the front desk attendant know that Sin was ready to give her statement and found Sin lying in the bed looking helpless.

“Why did you look at me like that, Sin?” I asked as I took my seat beside her bed.

“When?”

She knew exactly what I was talking about, so I gave her a stern look. She looked down, as if she was embarrassed, and then it hit me. I know damn well she wasn’t giving that man my ass. I could have choked Sin myself, when the truth hit me. I stood up. I was furious with her.

“I thought you stopped hoeing around, Sin.”

“Hoeing?” she said, seeming offended.

Maybe my language was harsh, but I felt like a fool standing by her side as her man, while she was sleeping around with the doctor, and maybe all of the other men Victoria claimed she was servicing behind her back.

“So tell me, are you sleeping with Zack too? I’ve always wondered why you’re his favorite. He speaks so highly of you. Probably told all of his construction buddies about you, and how you take your time with him.”

She seemed genuinely confused. I didn’t mean to bring him into this, but I felt like I was about to go crazy. I walked out of her room before she could respond; I had to get my thoughts together. And I had walked out just in time, because the police had just made it to our floor.

“How is she?” Damien walked up to me and asked. He stayed most of the morning for support, but was about to go home for a quick shower. We took a seat in the waiting area.

“Not too good, Damien.”

“Have they said when they are going to let her go?” he asked.

“More than likely she can leave in the morning.”

My heart was still heavy about losing our baby. And then, I felt like I lost a piece of Sin after confirming that she was sleeping around with her clients.
