gave four tours a day, two in the morning, two in the afternoon.

“A small bruise.” He looked embarrassed, trying to cover what

“It"s a live bite,” Steve whispered, obviously sensing Kem"s

heightened concern. “I didn"t want to say anything in front of the

kids.”

The kids were still outside, playing with the geckos that

seemed to love the property.

“Don"t go,” Hoku begged. Kem promised he"d be back when

the tour was over.

“Okay,” she said. She was so clingy lately. He was happy to

give her all the love she needed, but wondered what the heck was

going on between his sister and his niece.

“They can go with you,” his mother said.

“Yay!” the kids shouted.

Kem didn"t mind. The children listened to him and they were

always a hit with visitors.

“Aloha!” they shouted, waving at the tour bus that was pulling
